INTENT

At MAHPS, our Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) curriculum is designed to foster curiosity, confidence, and cultural awareness through the study of French. Using the Primary Languages Network (PLN) scheme, our lessons focus on developing the four key skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, progressively building language proficiency across four stages from Year 3 to Year 6.

Our curriculum introduces pupils to the richness of French culture and language, helping them to communicate effectively for practical purposes while laying the foundation for further language learning. By exploring vocabulary, grammar, and authentic contexts, we inspire pupils to embrace linguistic challenges, preparing them for life in a multilingual world.

Aligned with national standards, our MFL curriculum aims to develop confident communicators and culturally aware global citizens, ready to continue their language journey in secondary school and beyond.

Please see below our curriculum overviews. These include all the core knowledge and skills your children will be taught along each stage of their language journey.
