Ofsted Inspection Overview – January 2025
We are pleased to share the outcomes of our most recent Ofsted inspection, which took place on the 28th and 29th of January 2025. The inspection recognised a number of important strengths across Moor Allerton Hall Primary School, and we are proud of the positive direction in which the school is moving.
Inspectors noted that our school is a welcoming and caring environment where pupils feel safe, valued, and supported. The pupils’ confidence in approaching staff with any worries, and their strong understanding of the school’s ‘CARE’ values, are clear indicators of the positive culture we have nurtured. Behaviour and attitudes across school were judged to be Good, with inspectors praising the consistent routines and high expectations that enable pupils to learn in a calm, respectful setting.
Pupils at Moor Allerton Hall benefit from a rich and diverse personal development programme. The wide range of clubs—from British Sign Language and robotics to martial arts—alongside memorable educational visits and thought-provoking assembly visitors, reflect our commitment to broadening horizons and developing confident, thoughtful individuals. Our work in promoting equality, mental health, and an understanding of life in modern Britain was also recognised as a real strength.
Reading continues to be a high priority, and our approach to phonics and early reading was highlighted as an area of strong practice. From the very start of Reception, children are immersed in a reading-rich environment, supported by skilled staff who ensure books are well matched to pupils’ reading ability. Regular assessments and timely interventions are helping our pupils become fluent, confident readers.
We are also proud that the inspectors recognised the high-quality, personalised support we provide for pupils with SEND. The specialist provision for pupils who are deaf or hearing impaired was singled out for the expertise and care shown by staff, ensuring that all children can access the full curriculum and achieve well.
Of course, the inspection also identified areas where further improvement is needed, particularly in ensuring that the curriculum is implemented consistently across all subjects and phases. Some pupils have gaps in knowledge, especially in writing, which we are working hard to close. While the school’s curriculum has recently been strengthened, the impact of these changes is still embedding. The report acknowledges the recent changes in leadership and the clear, decisive actions now being taken to raise standards. Our teaching team is already working closely together to bring greater consistency to how the curriculum is delivered, ensuring that all pupils benefit from high-quality teaching, every day.
Importantly, we want to reassure our families that we are not standing still. We already have a robust and ambitious School Improvement Plan in place. This plan is included in our Ofsted Action Plan below and was presented by our Senior Leadership Team to our parents in March 2025. The presentation outlines the clear steps we are taking to build on our strengths and address the areas identified for improvement. It reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring every pupil receives the best possible education.
We are proud of our pupils, our staff, and our wider school community. The inspection confirms that the foundations are strong, and with our clear vision and dedicated leadership, we are well on our way to becoming a truly exceptional school. This report marks a point on our journey—not a destination—and we thank our families for their ongoing support as we continue to move forward, together.
