UKS2 Thwaites Museum Trip

All of UKS2 had a memorable day out, when they visited Thwaites Museum in Stourton, Leeds. The pupils were whisked back in time to World War Two where they experienced what it would have been like to live with rationing, bombings and wearing gas masks!

As part of the historic experience, the pupils (and teachers) got to identify German air raid targets; try sticking putty to windows (Thwaites Mill made putty in the war to help seal windows) all before working out how many sweets they were allowed in their weekly rationing and how much these would have cost in 'Old Money!'.

Apart from all the great war experiences, the interesting part of the trip was taking a tour around the historic, and still working water wheel.
